Thought’d I’d let you all know about my jobby… Im sat in my office listening to Talk Sport at the moment and itsss boring me but Martin the Sales Manager prefers it to the modern music on Radio 1 (Martin’s Twin)
Martin used to be a football hooligan in the 70s, 80s and 90s with the Chelsea Headhunters. He’s a typical ‘London Geeza’. Quick with his wit, streetwise, funny and most of all passionate about everything he does.
Being a foolball hooligan, somethings never die – Martin still wears his burberry coat, with his burberry wallet and designer clothes.
His stories are exilerating, crazy and non-stop. If you’ve ever seen ID or Football Factory, you can imagine what Martin is like, he is the original Tommy Johnson (Danny Dyer).
And then there’s Alex. A 6ft 2″, 16 Stone and Rugby League mad Sales Executive! Hes actually off watching Wigan this weekend leaving me and Martin alone and short staffed since Jason’s left.
Despite Alex’s towering size he’s actually a Big Friendly Giant or Big Gay Al as some people like to call him.
Then there WAS Mr Jones the Branch Manager.
Jason, the self confessed ladies man. A former pro-footballer with the ego to go with it. Despite this, he is without doubt the best manager that I’ve worked with!
He’s a typical lad so he’s easy to get on with, he can motivate people in a few simple words and knows how to get the best out of people without breaking sweat.
But now hes gone and off to pastures new – Good Luck Jason.
Then theres me, the Admin support of the office. The man who knows how everything works, the one they all look to for advice and how everything works away from the Sales stuff.
My job is much more than photocopying and faxing – I arrange the transport of vehicles from our site to others and vice-versa, I liase with the finance companies to get the deals paid out, I do minor management in the absence of Jason (which Im doing for the unforseeable future) and I am the guy everyone from across the whole group aims for when they need something. Joy!
That obviously isn’t an exhausive list but just a few…
